Here follows the ranks used within each Flock. All ranks have a suffix, which needs to be added into the display name when and if you achieve a certain rank.
Queen - The leader of the flock and always female, the queen has to be dominant, fast, powerful and intelligent. They have complete rule over the flock and their word is law within the pack. Disobey a queen and you risk everything, including your life. The queen will take one mate from within the pack and that male will become King.
Suffix - ski, ex. Syndarblenski, or alternatively, Synski
King - The king of the flock is the mate of the Queen. His word can be overruled by the Queen's and sometimes also that of the Deputy. His is a reasonably high position, for a male, it is the highest position. He is obeyed by all others in the flock, except of course his mate and sometimes the Deputy, when needed.
Suffix - sko, ex. Syndarblensko, Synsko
Deputy: A female bird, second after the Queen, she is quite powerful, even to the point of being able to overrule the King occasionally. In the event that the Queen dies, without being killed in a challenge for leadership and without leaving an heir, then she will take her place as leader of the flock. Her mate will become King and the current King will be demoted back into the general ranks of the flock. Her mate usually occupies some general rank in the flock.
Suffix - ra, ex. Syndarblenra, Synra
Guards: Powerful birds, more often female but sometimes male. The guards do exactly as their title says, they guard the flock. If the flock is attacked, they protect it with their lives. They are often renowned for strength and endurance and are good at offense, but much better at defense. There most important duty is to save the Queen and her eggs/chicks if she has any.
Suffix - nu, ex. Syndarblennu, Synnu
Messengers: These are the fastest birds in the flock, more often male than female. They tend to be falcons and other smaller, quicker birds. They take messages between flock members over distance, or between flocks and their allies. They are also often used as scouts, searching out the lie of the land if the flock is searching for new territory, attacking a rival, etc etc.
Suffix - ti, ex. Syndarblenti, Synti
Spy: One or two birds within the flock, who are good at disguise, deceit and stealth. They are sent to spy on other flocks, in any way possible. Being master's of deceit, they are often double-agents and as so, they are regarded very warily amongst the flock and with great distaste. In some flocks, they are regularly killed off or exiled by the Queen, to try to prevent double-crossing.
Suffix - la, ex. Syndarblenla, Synla
Healer: One, two at the most. The Healer within the flock is a bird with vast knowledge of herbs, healing techniques and the body structure of birds. It is also preferable if they have the magical power to heal. They are there to care for and monitor the rest of the flock, administering help whenever they need it. They come in most useful during raids and hunts that go awry. They are very valuable to the flock and they go to great pains to protect the healers.
Suffix - vi, ex. Syndarblenvi, Synvi
Storyteller: The storyteller is usually just one or two birds per flock. They are often older birds who have spent most of their life as loners, thus learning much about the world and life. They entertain the chicks of the King and Queen with their tales, as well as the adults of the flock.
Suffix - wu, ex. Syndarblenwu, Synwu
Common: The common members of the flock, those that have no rank. There aren't usually many of these, because they usually become guards or messengers or take some other ranks in the flock. The common members hunt for the flock and it's chicks. They are the lowest ranking members, apart from prisoners or the lowly.
Suffix - dar, Syndarblendar, Syndar
Chick: As only the Queen is allowed to have Chiccks, these are her children. One of them will become her Heir, usually the strongest and always a female. If the queen only has male chicks, then she will wait for another brood before declaring an heir. The chicks are one of the most well protected of all the flocks' members and everyone will give their lives for them.
Suffix - ma, ex. Syndarblenma, Synma
The Lowly: These are the members of the flock who have disgraced themselves for whatever reason and have been demoted to this low position. The only birds given less respect than them are the prisoners. The Lowly must work hard to get back into the good graces of the flock and reclaim their old rank or at least something better back.
Suffix - gri, ex, Syndarblengri, Syngri
Prisoners: Birds captured from other flocks, enemy flocks, it is up to the queen to do with them what she will, whether that be consigning them to a life of imprisonment, constantly guarded, or killing them, or even setting them free. The prisoners are given no respect from the rest of the flock and tend to have a very miserable time while imprisoned.
